Street artist Replete produced this great picture of a jet fighter by painting on different layers of plastic wrap which are stretched across the space about 10m apart. The bombs are anomorphically drawn on the floor.
As part of a marketing campaign, the Italian insurance firm Europ Assistance staged this surreal scene in the middle of Milan's Piazza Mercanti. It depicts a submarine surfacing through the asphalt of the street, rear-ending a small smart car in the process. During the initial morning unveiling of the scene scuba divers swoop in to rescue the disoriented sailors from their submarine as police and medical assistance secure the scene. Of course, the scene was entirely staged.
You have probably seen our gallery on 3D chalk art, but this is the first time we've seen 3D moving anamorphic chalk art.
Beever first designs his work on paper. Once finalise a camera is placed at a distance from the art on the pacement which he returns to in order to observe the image through the lens a number of times, as the camera’s wide angled lens can create an optical illusion which distorts the actual size of objects, which aides in maintaining perspective.
Beever works as a freelance artist and creates murals for companies. He has worked in the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Spain, the United States, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, and Portugal.
Besides this pavement art, Beever also paints murals with acrylic paints and replicas of the works of masters and oil paintings, and creates collages. Among his other work are drawings, usually themed around music.
In 2010, Beever released a book Pavement Chalk Artist, which includes photographs of many of his works from around the world. See more of Julian’s work here http://julianbeever.blogspot.com/
